Before giving the answer, we have a special treat for you... Exactly one week from today (Thursday, March 15th)... at about this time (beginning at 2 PM)... you can attend the 6th Annual North County Business-to-Business Expo at no-cost and no waiting in line compliments of Jordan & Jordan! Pre-register by clicking here and we'll see you there! |
What should you do? Let's just get right to the point... Most companies who say they are getting no return from exhibiting simply are not exhibiting properly. Maybe it's not the right venue; maybe it's not the right audience... but if it is, then the problem lies in the exhibiting itself.
Here are the Top 3 Mistakes made by exhibitors who say they get no return from their exhibit: #1 - HAVING EXHIBITING "STINKIN' THINKIN'" If you think that you can just buy a booth, show up, put up a sign and sit in your plastic folding chair behind your linen-draped table (or even more horrific... LEAVING the booth unattended) and get results, you are sorely mistaken. If you think that your success at the expo is measured solely by the dollars you make or orders you take, you are sorely mistaken. If you think that you are going to get something out of it without putting anything INTO it, you are... well, you get the picture. Get your mind tuned into generating qualified leads and actively pursue this at the show! #2 - GIVING OFF THE "UNAPPROACHABLE SIGNAL" By putting yourself behind the table, you are putting a barrier between you and the attendees (Attendees = those to whom you WANT to introduce your product or service; those who you WANT to do business with you!) You are visually saying to the attendee "I don't want you to approach me".... HUH?!? What are you there for? Put the table at the BACK or SIDE of your BOOTH and position yourself at the FRONT! #3 - ENDING THE CAMPAIGN AT THE END OF THE SHOW Exhibiting is an excellent marketing campaign... but it is one that does NOT begin and end the day of the show. To make the most of your exhibiting, before the show, tell your clients and prospects about the show and encourage them to attend. After the show, place a call, send an email, mail a "thank you" note or do some other type of follow up to keep in touch with those you met. HINT: Have your "follow up" strategy ready BEFORE the show so you can easily connect with your qualified leads AFTER the show!
