TRUTH!
Many people incorrectly assume that before they start marketing, they MUST develop a marketing plan NOVEL... a document with every detail laid out, every dollar budgeted, every strategy calendared, etc. And yes, that is the ultimate in planning your marketing... however and unfortunately, the task of creating the "ultimate" seems daunting to most and ends up hindering or preventing any marketing strategies/campaigns from being developed and implemented.

It is true that an idea list and simple outline are enough to START a marketing plan. When working with clients on developing their "ultimate", this is exactly how we start! Each business owner, entrepreneur or independent agent has great ideas for marketing their business or themselves... and most make a concerted effort to implement those ideas... however, in many cases, the ideas are not listed and reviewed and the implementation is not strategized and structured.

Take a moment to make a list of the marketing you currently are doing and ideas for marketing campaigns you'd like to do. Then ask yourself... Do I understand the purpose of the strategy? Do I have a clear implementation schedule? What are my expectations and are they realistic?

Once you have the list and outline, you will be able to see a clear direction for your marketing.
