Marketing Strategies Campaigns and Results Forums for Four

A Real-Life, "You Never Know" Story

Quite a few years ago, a client said, "You should meet this wonderful trade magazine publisher."

Not sure what would come of it, the meeting was scheduled.

After the meeting, it appeared as though the publisher wasn't a prospect for us:
<>They didn't need their publication layout developed...
they had a company for that;
<>They didn't need ads for their advertisers developed/created...
they had staff for that;
<>They didn't need a marketing plan... the publisher had that covered;
<>They didn't need a marketing consult or strategy session...
the publisher was pretty savvy about marketing.

When asked if we could put them on our monthly email newsletter list, the publisher said "yes", and so we did. And, of course, we watched for opportunities to refer our clients to the publication if there was a good fit.

We hadn't spoken for a while after that initial meeting... Until one day, six months later, IN REPLY EMAIL TO OUR MONTHLY EMAIL NEWSLETTER, the publisher asked for me to contact them; their ad development/creation staff was not working out and they were looking for another solution.

Jordan & Jordan ended up being the agency used to develop ALL display ads in the publication. Plus, many of the advertisers asked the publisher to have us contact them directly to develop additional marketing campaigns and materials.

So as we say... "You never know"!
