1. A statement in an advertising or marketing campaign that prompts a potential customer to act.
2. A request by the marketer for the consumer to do something.
So that's the definition... but, what does this mean to YOU, ?
Depending on the method of delivery of your marketing message, your call to action may vary.
For print... like display ads, mailers, notecards, postcards, etc., your "call" may be "Call Today!" or "Log on to our website for details!".
For digital... like a website, blog or email marketing campaign, your call may be "Register here!" or "Click Now!"
Two points:
1) A sense of urgency is usually a good way to motivate to action quickly (like "Limited Time" or "Special Ends on ____"; and
2) Adding a "soft" call (as long as it doesn't dilute your message) can be beneficial (like "for more information visit our website").
What's important is that you are directing the recipient or reader to do what you want them to do and MAKING IT EASY for them to do so!
