ROI [ahr•oh•ahy] n. Acronym: Return on Investment The measure of success of a marketing campaign by financial gain after taking into account customer lifetime value.
So that's the definition... but, what does this mean to YOU, firstname_placeholder?
Many people measure the success of a marketing campaign SOLELY by revenue... and true, that is one factor... but not the ONLY one.
A client once said to me, "I always know when you've sent out my eMarketing for the month because the phone doesn't stop ringing and my email inbox is inundated!" (They are measuring by increased response!)
Another said, "Remember that trade show we did about 6 months ago and I said, 'I'm not doing exhibiting anymore because it doesn't pay for itself' and you said, 'Sure it does. You just aren't setting the right goals and expectations for return'?... Well, the one client I did get from the show has referred 3 new clients to me in the last 3 months!" (They WERE measuring by revenue only, but now are looking at the relationship potential not only for direct business and repeat business, but for referral business as well!)
